Period Restoration & Conservation

We use traditional methods for authentic restoration that do not decrease the value of the object. We do not use spray booths, lacquer, polyurethane or oil finishes.

Some work can be done onsite. We only use safe and non-toxic conservation materials.

Exact Duplicates of Fine Antiques

We specialize in carved and/or complex chairs, tables, mirrors including exact hand rubbed surface, finish and wax patina.

Gilding

Our gilders are experts in both water and oil gilding conservation and patination. No gold radiator paint is used.

Japanning/ Chinoiserie Design

A special technique. We consolidate all lifting chipping areas. Infill designs and painting while preserving original patina.

Vere-Elomise

A Reverse painting and gilding on glass technique. Including Scrafitto and faux tortoise shell on glass.

Hand Rub Shellac Finish

Experts in French, English and American Polishing methods.

Surface Restoration

We use safe cleaning techniques to preserve the original patina. We replace veneer with similar wood . Recondition original finish and wax.

Safe Fumigation

We us a gas chamber treatment that kills all insect infestation without damaging finish or wood and leaves no odor.

In House Metallurgist

In house metal man. Fine/rare hardware restoration and reproduction. Expert caster and welder. Tin-ware repair. Metal object repair. Can cast, reproduce, replace antique keys. Restore and/or reproduce hard to find fine hardware.

Marble Restoration

We can restore and repair rare and unusual flat marble tops that are an intrinsic part of a wooden object such as a chest of drawers or a French cabinet. Many of the marble tops are extremely rare and irreplaceable and account for 30% to 50 % of the value of an antique piece of furniture. We can restore such pieces.
